During the Assofermet Day, an annual appointment of the steel suppliers association held on October 5th, talks were underway about Europe, dedicating round tables to raw materials, industrial development and protectionism. At the round table designated to talks on “A new future for industry and steel in Italy and in Europe”, Flavio Bregant (General Director of Federacciai/Steel Federation) met up with Gabriele Morgante (General Director internal market, industry, entrepreneurship and SMEs – raw materials, metals and mineral sectors – EU Commission), Pino Mussolino (presidente Autorità di Sistema Portuale del Mare Adriatico settentrionale/president of Eastern Adriatic Port System Authorities ) and our Managing Director, Rinaldo Baldi.
The debate fueled heated arguments as antidumping, ILVA, logistics and markets.
Baldi’s speech focused on how Europe needs to limit damages optimizing and snapping up the best market opportunities, whereas “today in Europe we are mostly speaking in terms of how to adapt the cost structure to the new reality of the sector”.
